Celebrate Feet This National Foot Health Awareness Month
National Foot Health Awareness Month is observed in April to raise awareness regarding critical foot issues. Although our feet enable us to see the world and stand tall on our own, they are somehow one of the most frequently ignored parts of our anatomy. From wearing good shoes to getting regular care, this month promotes the general well-being of our feet.
Patients who complain of joint, hip, or spinal discomfort frequently find that the cause is due to their feet. If your feet are out of alignment and are not working properly, it can affect your lower extremities, lower back, and upper extremities as well. Pain in other places can be reduced by fixing foot issues. The other parts of your body can use your feet as an indicator.
By maintaining healthy feet, you may stay active and engage in regular exercise, which can help with a variety of problems, including being overweight, heart disease, and depression.
Stay Active
To avoid stress problems and heel pain choose supportive shoes and gradually raise your activity levels whenever you start an exercise session.
Proper Footwear
Wear proper shoes. We advise going to a specialist to get your shoes so that a professional can assist you in choosing the best pair for your needs.
Do Not Ignore your Feet
While applying sunscreen outside, don’t forget to cover your feet. Use it with extra care to reduce the risk of skin cancer.
Diabetic Feet
If you have diabetes, you must be aware of how crucial good foot health is. Increased blood sugar levels can cause nerve damage, which can adversely affect your feet. You should see your podiatrist once a year if you have diabetes.
Orthotics
Make sure your shoes have adequate room for your toes without being too tight or irritating. Use specialized orthotics for support if necessary.
Your feet may suffer from decades of neglect. Overuse, ill-fitting footwear, and even genetics can result in foot injuries and diseases that can significantly limit your mobility.
Make an appointment with your podiatrist right away if you haven’t already had your yearly podiatrist visit. To keep you moving, a podiatrist will examine your feet and ankles, and apprise you of any underlying or developing conditions. You can then decide on the course of your treatment in consultation with your podiatrist.
