Ah, the lowly foot. It's the last thing we think about - maybe because it's so far away from our brains? - unless it hurts.
Our feet are amazing combinations of bones, muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. Together they work hard to allow us to walk, jump and run, and even help us keep our balance.
The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) has designated April as the month to honor our feet and build greater awareness of how hard they work for us every day. It's the perfect time to start some good foot health habits that will ensure that your tootsies carry you safely for a good many years to come.
Easy Foot Care Tips
Most importantly, check your feet - and your children's feet too - every day for skin problems, cuts, bruises or any abnormality. If you have diabetes, it's extra important to thoroughly check your feet daily and report anything unusual to us.
At the Clark Podiatry Center, we urge you to come see us whenever you observe anything abnormal with your feet or have any foot or ankle pain. Our goal is to do whatever it takes to keep you walking and enjoying your normal exercise, sports and other activities.
